Document Summary

Describes what different media have in common, and how one medium can be described in terms of another medium. Constantly thinking about how the various art forms relate, and if there is a difference, they are usually medium-specific in nature. When to describe something as intermedial: sits between two places (to give some sense of movement) From intermedial to intermediality --> reversing the distinction that has been emphasized in this class, including the terms of gesture. Not what about what makes a medium unique, however, by how one medium reflects on another medium. How does the awareness of the similarities would help us understand how movement works. For example, the slow-motion extends the dancer"s capability: cinema is at its best because it allows for intermedial forms. How do we distinguish ourselves, uniquely, as philosophers or artists, so much so as it is recognized by others. If it is recognized, then it isn"t as unique as you think it is.
