Varieties of social groups: friendship, refers to close social ties bw at least 2 ppl which are informal, are voluntary and involve personal face to face interaction. Intense competitiveness: poverty can also be a cause and many of these youths want to be economically successful, but social conditions channel their interests and skills into illegal pursuits rather than into legal pathways to achievement.
