Absolutism - deviance is a real concrete thing (social norms/social control) Objectivity - we can study it/ detach ourselves from society and look at deviance from a birds view. A series of interrelated parts that ensure social order. Social agents - people groups, animals, institutions, religion, education, armed forces, economy, health care. Suicide is influenced by greater social forces and specific characteristics in societies influence suicide. Influenced by unity and consensus of social norms. All this happened during 1960s during civil rights movement. Expectations became uncertain - what"s possible with these new opportunities. More deviance would come with this social rapid change. He is shifting the boundaries of political speech. When the president stops following the norms followed by all presidents it gives the go ahead to other individuals to aspire their extreme views. Increase in violence, discrimination, threats, hate groups, vandalism, deviance.
