The only province with almost 50% divorce rate is quebec. # of divorces: actual number of reported divorces per year (can be young or old, 2 peaks in canada. Crude divorce rate: rate of divorce per 100,000 population (includes single people and children- people that are not eligible for divorce) Refined divorce rate: rate of divorce per 100,000 married couples. Average duration of marriage before divorce is 15 years. Divorce is at highest risk in first 3 years, 5 years is the make or break point for couples. Age at marriage is the strongest predictor of divorce in first 5 years. University educated people are less likely to get divorced (higher education and older the person makes people more likely to stay married)
