Introduction: this chapter focuses on sexual development and milestones that are similar for people everywhere, sexuality changes with time, but it is present at all stages of life, sexuality carries responsibility to yourself and to one"s partner. Newborns and fetuses have been known to touch themselves. Children masturbate as soon as they have the motor ability to do so. Infants throve on loving physical contact from caregivers, and in the area can shape future developments. Need a certain number of touches/ affection to grow. Count of caregiver to soothe their pain = secure attachment. Insecure = may worry that romantic partner does not love them enough. There are consequences of shaming children about this. If the parent overreacts can have negative consequences. If sexuality is repressed can even lead to pain during sex later on. Gender of the other child can be irrelevant. Interest in sex generally increases around age 10. Most common form of expression of sexuality is masturabion.
