Native like proficiency: usually native bilinguals, but not always. Adequate proficiency: can talk in that language, will have mistakes and have an accent, learnt at an older age. Bilingual speech perception: the beginning: before they even start learning sounds of language, bilingualism has an effect, newborns prefer the rhythm of their own language over another. Soother connected to a computer that plays a language when they suck: their own or another. Will suck more to hear their own language: newborns who heard english and tagalog during the fetal period will suck equally to hear both.
