People assign intelligence to the qualiies that enable success in their own ime/culture. Intelligence is the ability to learn from experience, solve problems, and use knowledge to adapt new situaions. Intelligence tests assess people"s mental abiliies and compares them with others, using numerical scores. Developed factor analysis, a staisical procedure that ideniies clusters of related items. Found that those who score high in one area, score high in others too. Verbal comprehension, inducive reasoning, word luency, spaial ability, memory, perceptual speed, numerical ability. Those who excelled in one of the seven clusters did well in the others too. General intelligence evolved as a form of intelligence that helps people solve novel problems.
