Psychological disorders = patterns of thoughts, feelings, or actions that are deviant, distressful, and dysfunctional. Disorder refers to a state of mental/behavioural ill health. Patterns refers to finding a collection of symptoms that tend to go together, and not just seeing a single symptom. For there to be distress and dysfunction, symptoms must be sufficiently severe to interfere with o(cid:374)e"s dail(cid:455) life a(cid:374)d (cid:449)ell (cid:271)ei(cid:374)g. When a behaviour is different from what would be expected in that culture. Context: yelling for hours is not deviant when it happens at a football game.
