Common sense: subjective experience comes first, then followed by other two components. J-l theory: physiological arousal and behavioural response come first followed by subjective: canon-bard. All 3 components come into play simultaneously but independently of each other: shacter"s. Emotion we feel depends on cognitive label we put on the physiological arousal. Physiological arousal created by situation 1 falls over into situation 2, strengthens and enhances it: cognition and emotions, what comes first, cognitive therapy: if you feel sad it is because of how you interpret your life. Changing how you think changes your feelings: zajonc: agrees with cognitive therapy but not enough. He says there are times when we feel first and think later: lazarus: in complete disagreement with zajonc. According to science there are some similarities, but also differences. The role of culture: important in non-verbal communication, gender. Based on science there is no significant differences between men and women emotionally.
