Infertility is a problem that affects millions of couples in the united states and also worldwide. Today there are many alternatives and methods to have a child, there"s adoption and assisted reproductive technology. In vitro fertilization is one such technology that is created to have a child. It consists of the uniting of sperm and egg in a laboratory dish instead of being united inside a women"s body. There have been advances in ivf and variations have been developed. They include gamete intrafallopian transfer gift and zygote intrafallopian transfe (zift). This is an expensive method but helps couples overcome infertility. Studies have shown ivf cycles pose a health risk to both the woman and the child. Problems also arise when there is practice of cryopreserving of extra embryos which are often left after the ivf cycles. The question that arises is what to do with them.
