Document Summary

Postmodernism, this was popular in the 1960s and 1970s. No standard for judging truth, so no one should judge it. Truth = old anglo saxon word = home. Relativistic (my truth is my truth, your truth is yours) People don"t like it because it means once everything is true nothing is true. Something is true when a statement (eg sky is blue, the dog is big) corresponds to the world. See, i told you this was true point to it and show. Just as powerful, but has nothing to do with the world. Something is true when it coheres with something that is also true. May be a bit circular, but goes back to the idea of mathematics and geography. If i make a mathematical statement, i don"t have to prove it. Once you understand the concepts of 2, 4, you understand it. You don"t have to prove to the world that it"s true.
