It guides us in the way we relate to one another. Being able to do a skill but due to liability, having to wait for a supervisor to be present therefore delaying care to pt: ex. Seeing unethical care from rns in the clinical environment: the public, difference between individual good and the public good, affecting nurses and other hcps, quality practice environments (ex. Short staffing: changes in scope of practice, within socio-political context of the health care system, diversity of patients with different cultures and beliefs, needs for nurses in schools. Florence nightingale: spoke up about ethical and work environments, advocating for change and improvements, speaking up ethically and responsibly is not wrong. Intersection b/w the law and the code: to be ethical, sometimes you have to step out of the law, ex. If you disagree with an order, you have an ethical obligation to discuss with physician it is important for us to challenge orders when need be.
