Weak legal framework and we see the results. Blind spot the us has: canada has a similar blind spot to the aboriginal populations. Was illegal for them to vote and hire a lawyer. Decisions made to exclude from equal consideration in society. Partly due to advancement of medical technology. Somewhere along the way it became common to take a step back fro the god given law and create in its place secular law often in a democratic fashion. The ability to legislate for the masses became priority. Human beings have became legal things in themselves - we have rights and we can enforce them. Smallpox used to kill 1/3 of children.
