Healthy system failing elderly and chronically ill (sharon kirkey) More needs to be done to deliver health care. Cancelled surgeries, can"t get hospital care, expensive treatments, long wait times, expensive drugs, doctors offering next day surgery in private clinics but year long wait in hospital. Failing for vulnerable groups children, elderly, aboriginals, people with mental illness. Publically funded hc system still to be kept, but fixed. People having to wait for treatment, results in health suffering. People surprised they have to pay for long term house-care. Can"t take care of people at home because can"t pay for health care providers etc. Need to spend less money on administration and more on front lines workers & services. Need value for money management, better delivery so can be accountable for health care. With aging population, need to build home-based health care system. Cha should now cover home care and national prescription drug plan.
