Consists of: heart and the closed system of tubes (arteries and veins) Heart: divided into 4 chambers: right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, left ventricle. 2 large veins: superior vena cava, inferior vena cava. The right atrium pumps blood to the right ventricle, which contracts, propelling the blood through the pulmonary veins. As blood passes through the vascular system in the lungs, carbon dioxide is exchanged from oxygen.
