Ships can hold more cargo and do not ground in channels. Water loss greater than precipitaion input: water levels drop, salinity rises. Soil dries up and wind-born soil transport increases. Streams- major geological agents of change in landscapes. Transfer material from highs to the lows-plane out relief. Drainage basin: total area drained by a stream and its tributaries. Tributary: small stream lowing into a larger one. Drainage divide: ridge of high ground dividing one drainage basin from another. Longitudinal proile: cross-secional view of the stream bed---red line. Three basic components of a stream: valleys: sloping area around the stream, channels: botom of valley, where water lows, floodplains: lat area in valley level with top of channel.
