The story was originally a play two and a half thousand years ago. Considered to be a great piece of influential world literature. It is the basis of the underdog standing up to authority. It was the birth of authority being wrong. The story of antigone has existed for over three thousand years. Antigone comes from incestuous family, oedipus, daughter of her older brother, from the story of oedipus and his mother. The brother of oedipus, creon has taken over the government, he is king of thebes and it has resulted in a civil war.
