Definition: is a broad term that describes any violence that is physical or psychological carried though several means or by targeting sexually. This violence takes different forms including sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, incest childhood sexual abuse and rape during armed conflict. It also includes sexual harassment, stalking incident or sexualized exposure, degrading sexual imagery, cyber harassment, and trafficking and sexual exploitation. In 2007, police recorded 24,200 sexual assault cases against individuals over 16 on canada. Women also commonly chose not to involve the criminal justice system due to shame or embarrassment and fear of retaliation from the offender. Over half of the sexually assaults in canada involved someone under 18 years old of the cases 81% were young women. Who is assaulted?
