Intrapersonal experience: primary relationships and individual characteristics/ personal identity, self-concept, predispositions, competencies and expectation. Motivation: used to describe intrapersonal experiences and influence behavior. Maslow: behaviour is influenced by internal needs. Physiological, safety and security, love and social belonging, esteem and prestige, self actualization. Herzberg: behaviour is a result of internal and external motivators. Motivation-hygiene theory: satisfaction/ dissatisfaction= not polar opposites, correcting something that causes dissatisfaction will not necessarily product satisfaction. People are motivated by: challenging work, achievement, growth and responsibility, recognition, advancement. Skinner: behaviour primarily influenced by reinforcement from external environment. Reward theory: communication must be directed at a specific behaviour. Salancik and pfeffer: workers job attitudes are a function of their communication activities.
