Document Summary
Acetaldehyde is derived from ethyl alcohol (alcohol), which is carcinogenic. Some people have increased acid aldehyde just because that"s how their body is made up. These people usually drink less, and therefore have a lower risk for cancer. People with more than a high school education do less activity. This does contribute to a risk, but the risk is very small. About half the risk we take on is from man-made chemicals, the other 50% is just natural. Very low risk overall only about 2-3% of cancer is caused by environment. Difference is in the amounts that we are exposed to. Aflatoxin powerful carcinogen found on peanuts, but we"re not exposed to much of it so it"s not a problem. Phorbol is the most powerful carcinogen on the planet. Used in lab experiments to induce cancer ex. Benefit from x-rays far outweighs the risk. 60% in 1992 (not a very dramatic improvement)
