Lecture 10 playing with race: critical approaches on sport for development. A few theme that are in line with sociology, more socio cultural studies of sport. There are different types of studies that view sport for development in a critical way. Today: darnell strongly theoretical, and heavy approaches. He applies critical theories to his reading of sport for development. We will be looking at what can happen in sport for development through these critical lenses. Other theme: importance of evaluating, and how can we use research to improve programs, analysis of play program which is also critical. Only on reserves they do not pay income task, however there is not many jobs in reserves so they are not saving much. Northern games documentary: sport was defined by the united nation as a universal language, shared by all humans, allowing intercultural dialogue. Ties in with darnell"s article where he positions sport as being universal in sport for development.
