In weightless condiions, muscles no longer have to oppose gravity. Exercise must be consistently undertaken to avoid atrophy. 40-60% loss in muscle strength when staionary, loss of elasicity within a few hours. Voluntary; controlled consciously by the somaic nervous system. More than 600 diferent skeletal muscles located throughout the body. Produce skeletal movement: pull on tendons atached to bones to produce movement from simple to complex movements.
