ANP 1106 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Ciliary Ganglion, Pupillary Response, Ciliary Muscle
Document Summary
Brous layer has whitish sclera is strong and where muscles attach. Is transparent in the front to allow light to enter - cornea. Vascular layer choroid" breaks into 2 layers at the front to from the ciliary body and the iris. Muscle - lots of ligaments, go all the way around the eye like cartoon sunbeams. When muscle contracts the opening gets smaller and the tension on the suspensory ligaments decreases. Sensory layer has 2 layers as well. Retina or neurons are only along the back and side walls of the eye. The pigmented layer is under is but also continues further to the front of the eye under the iris b/c. This is a problem for albinos cause nothing gets absorbed in the fovea, it gets re ected. The pupil controls the amount of light entering the eye. Contraction of circular muscles produces pupillary constriction and contraction of the radial muscles produces pupillary dilation.
