The epidermis: most superficial layers of skin, approx. 10-30 cells thick: composed of stratified squamous epithelium, cell types: Melanocytes : tend to be scattered in the deepest part of the epidermis (stratum germinativum). Melanin: pigment that ends up in skin, hair and eyes. The more you produce the darker your skin and hair will be.
