Affective commitment: because you want to (emotional attachment) Continuance commitment: because you have to (awareness of costs associated with leaving) Normative commitment: because you ought to (feeling of obligation) Focus of commitment: the people, places, and the things that inspire a desire to remain a member of an organization: Type of commitment depends on individual"s personality. May vary over the course of a career. Erosion model: employees with fewer bonds with co-workers will quit the organization.
