Chapter 1: the relationship between business and society. Integrity: the appropriateness of a corporation"s behaviour and its adherence to moral guidelines acceptable to society such as honesty, fairness and justice. In this book, some assumptions are made about the integrity of business: Ethic apply to business in the same manner as they do in any other institution in society. They are no ethics unique to business; it"s only the issues and settings that are different. The appropriateness of behaviour is examined in terms of the ethical implications of addressing issues or decisions and of the distribution of harms and benefits to the relevant stakeholders. Responsible corporation: a business undertaking that responds to social, ethical, and environmental responsibilities in addition to its economic obligation. Economic system: an arrangement using land, labour, and capital to produce, distribute, and exchanges goods and services to meet the needs and wants of people in society.
