Document Summary

January 28, 2016: prenatal development seeks to explain how changes inside form and take place. Theoretical principles apply to all development stages what happens during prenatal time, mirrors what happens throughout a lifespan. Practical understanding prenatal period is important because the developing organism can be positively or adversely affected by mothers own habits and behaviours, including whether they use drugs or alcohol. Development that occurs between conception and birth. Begins in fallopian tube when sperm penetrates ovum and forms a zygote. Takes about 266 days for the one-celled zygote to become a fetus of 200 billion cells. There will be more cells in the fetus when it"s born then what we have in the milky way galaxy: stages of development. Within 24 hours after conception, it starts to divide (through mitosis), then divides rapidly as it take journey to uterus called cleavage. 3-4 days for zygote to reach uterus. Few days to decide where it wants to rest.
