Slide 2: psycholinguistics discover psychological process by which humans acquire and process language: cars (comprehension, acquisition, representation & speech production) Slide 3: language is the expression or communication of thoughts and feelings by means of sounds and combinations of such sounds to which meaning is attributed; human speech. Slide 8: pictures do not necessarily represent language, however, pictures in slide 6/7 do represent language (through symbols). Hieroglyphics are in-between category where it is a picture/symbol and has a meaning. Slide 9: a picture of a hair tutorial is not symbolic, the meaning is inherent in the picture, it is not attributed. If we can take a t and organize it with h and e, we are creating a meaning if put in a sentence because it represents a thought/feeling. Number of basic emotions, body language and facial expressions influence communication patterns. Facial expressions do not interpret language because it needs to hierarchy organized.
