International relations are characterized, at base, by anarchy. Anarchy refers to the absence of government or formal authority: the principle of state sovereignty reflects the absence of a singly central authority or government to regulate world politics. International relations is a sub-field within political science: ir is focused on understanding the relationships between the main actors in the international arena. States are key actors in international politics: states have made rules collectively to determine international administration and conduct through a process known as global governance, multilateralism. Movements: transnational corporations - business firms that are headquartered in one country but have plants or places of operation around the world . Tnc"s are defined (today) by the way in which they: integrate their activities/production globally (in global supply or commodity chains, (2) move globally in search for cost advances (lowest bidder)
