Document Summary

Anatomy and physiology i chapter 1 and 2: organization of the. Physiology function, how it works and what it does. Homeostasis the ability to maintain or restore an environment at a certain level. Blood ph, body temperature, regulation of blood co2 level, regulation of blood glucose level, etc. If things are not within a certain range, other mechanisms are activated to restore homeostasis. Basic components of homeostasis control mechanisms: stimuli: any factor which causes a change from normal, sensor mechanism: specific sensors detect and react to any changes from normal. Integrating, or control, center: information is analyzed and integrated, and then if needed, a specific action is initiated: effector mechanism: effectors directly influence controlled physiological variables. Feedback: process of information about a variable constantly flowing back from the sensor to the integrator. Action: produce an effect opposite to the change that activated the system. Frequency: much more common than positive feedback control systems.
