Forensic biology lecture 7 march 9, 2016. 1988 forensic biology simple (blood, semen, saliva: mostly homicide and sexual assault, no dna analysis, ideniied by blood type a, couldn"t do much with the body luids found. 1 and 100 odds: then dna 1 in millions/trillions. Semen: by visual exam and light sources, and chemically (colour test) and look for sperm (micro done very few imes) Saliva: paper that turns dark blue test for amylase (digesive enzyme) rarely ran. 2 individuals (except idenical twins) have exactly the same dna. Less than one percent is diferent: very stable (can do cold cases, analysis of small biological specimens is possible. We leave dna in places you don"t even think you are: there are police that trail people waiing for a discard sample to test dna, every coloured line is a piece of dna.
