Wants us to understand power as it is coercively imposed upon as formally and informally: formal social control: We have the power to vote who will be the leader of a country. But we can only vote for the people running. Therefore, do we have power to choose a leader or does the people who create the agenda of federal leadership have the power: power is the hands of those who can set the agenda, or discourse. Discourse = created through social interaction/ conversation. In our society agenda is set through expert knowledge: hanging used to be a social event- everyone came to watch. France banned hanging and prisons were created.
