Document Summary

Ethnicity is the fundamental organizing concept of the contemporary world. Ethnic diversity also sources of pride, unity and achievement. Ethnicity and race shape our experiences, opportunities and ideas. How can we identify different racial groups: blood type, skin colour, genes, heritage, language, all of the above, none of the above. We are all the same species, the same race. Race is a concept that symbolizes socio political conflicts and interests in reference to different types of human bodies. We use skin colour to differentiate who is superior biologically. This is why people are racist and tend to believe white europeans are superior. Racial classification is a social and historical process. Races do not exist- there is no biological basis to race. The emergence of racial classification is a direct output of colonization. A human group defined by it self or others as distinct by virtue or perceived common physical characteristics. A product of human perception and classification.
