An influence resulting from one"s willingness to accept others" opinions about reality: people are more susceptible to group influence than commonly thought. Power of conformity is most prevalent when the majority has the same opinion. Solomon asch"s experiment: the comparing line tests with group/individual input. Eyewitness identification task: shown one person, and then asked to identify the person within a group: easy condition: 5 seconds of viewing the first slide, difficult condition: half a second of viewing the first slide. The scenario of the offense also has an effect on the study: low importance (petty offense) vs. high importance (severe crime) Conformity is highest on important judgements (make the wrong decision more than 50% of the time: use other opinions when it is important to make the correct decision. When the judgement is easy, the conformity is very low (lower importance)
