Patterns and theories of police deviance: police brutality, racial profiling, etc. Social control agencies - mandate to examine and deal with allegations police deviance. Police response to domestic violence - lead to mandatory arrests. B: recurring themes in the course: idea that policing is one of many agencies of social control. A lot of these are informal social controls - informals are often more effective than the formal social controls (the police).
