Direct violence, emotional trauma and injury to the victim. Break down of social order and limits ones freedom. Sometimes approach victims in a nonthreatening way. For the situation to go as planned, the mugger needs to de ne the situation for the victim. Violence = way to control the victim or when the victim resists. Victim and robber cant predict each others actions = likelihood of tragic consequences. Victim = unlikely to resist and probably has a lot of money. Easy access, escape routes and late hours. Easily escape and how easy is it to control victims. The more vulnerable the store, understaffed ect, the more it will attract an armed robber. Gunmen/crews who go in commando and attack directly wear masks usually. Once you approach the doors, theres a point of nality and you lose the tentativeness previously experienced. After a few successes, robbers are no longer terri ed by the experience.
