People believe and accept that a social classed based system is fair. American dream proven to be a false notion. Components of inequality: property: (private, income: money received from all sources (what people earn), wealth: net assets (homes, cars, stocks) (what people have), occupational prestige: the social value associated with types of work. aka professional prestige. Closed systems of social organization: social status as defined by one"s ascribed status. Other means such as raking on cultural traits.
