The proletariat would work in the factory. Adam smith and the wealth of nations. Workers working ridiculous hours & children working in factories. Class consciousness - an awareness of what is in the best interests of one"s class. Marx argued the bourgeoisie always know what is in their best interest (and shape society to benefit themselves)
