Document Summary
Canadian tourism commission (ctc) identified a number of issues in tourism development. If not resolved, these challenges are likely to weaken the canadian tourism product. These issues require the attention of all stakeholders in the canadian tourism industry. Transport is a key factor in tourism development. Relationship between transport and tourism has been conceptualized as accessibility. Easy and reasonably priced access to and around a destination is critical for tourism development. Quality of roads, highways, and roads facilities have decreased. Deregulation has created near-monopolistic air transport system with air canada the only national carrier. Government taxes, rising oils and fuel prices, new pricing structure. Increasing demand means deterioration which in turn impacts negatively on visitor experience. Politicians are attempting to use and greens for development purposes. National parks and historic sites are major components of the canadian tourism product. However environmental challenges with national parks is a major concern. Balance between accessibility, environmental perseveration and carrying capacity.
