Document Summary

Pre and postsynaptic neuron are held together by neison molecules. Action potential is an electrical signal that runs down to axon. Reduce the sensation of pain by blocking the possibility of an action potential reaching the axon terminal. Block the sodium channel so that you cannot exchange ions and carry the action potential. This is preventing the electrical signal down the axon and any activity at the synapse. If prepared inappropriately, it can kill you. Block ca channels so it reduces neurotransmitter release. Creates a pore within the presynaptic neuron. This also attaches to other parts of the membrane and makes a pore. Allows neurotransmitters to be released into the synaptic cleft (not controlled at all) When such a great concentration of neurotransmitters is released. Since acetylcholine is primary used for muscles, this can cause paralysis due to the high concentration of neurotransmitters released. Increase energy and mood, will lead to physical problems as well.
