Organizational behaviour is the study of individual and group dynamics in an organizational setting, as well as the nature of the organizations themselves. Organizational psychology draws on principles, theory, and methods from the social science disciplines of psychology and sociology, as well as economics, political science, anthropology, and management. Organizations are social inventions for accomplishing common goals through group effort. Management is the art of getting things accomplished in organizations through others. Managerial roles include: interpersonal, informational, and decision making. A study of 968 firms found a 1 std. Dev. increase in use of high performance work practices was associated with: A 1996 study of 702 firms found a 1 std. Dev. improvement in human resource systems was associated with an increase in shareholder wealth of , 000 per employee (a 14% market premium).
