Memory before; they couldn"t even write notes. Memory isn"t that good but its last resort. Children = wild range not just preschoolers. Memory biases in children are more likely and more problematic. & bruck (1993: interviewed weekly by trained interviewers, 58% of false and detailed stories when there was a change of interviewers, stories were effective and convincing enough so that the interviewer believed them. False memories of sexual abuse are a significant problem. Dismissing real memories of sexual abuse is also a significant problem: re-traumatizing the child and letting the abuse to continue, can potentially risk having other children being victimized. The courage to heal (bass & davis, 1988: denial and repression of sexual violation is common, if you have feelings that something abusive happened to you, it probably did , victims show signs of. But these symptoms have many other causes: abusers will lie and deny; pretty good at it. But so will the falsely accused will deny.
