The goal is to understand something so that we can predict and/or control it. This requires testing hypotheses with studies that, ideally, eliminate alternative explanations for a result (ie eliminate bias) This is a bad study but the class needs to discuss why it"s a bad study. Relating young offenders committing crime to their childhood incidents. Took 60 young offenders and asked them if they had some sort of negative childhood experience with their parents.
