Major classifications of mental disorders (dsm): there is a set criterion for a major depressive episode. One of the symptoms must be present (1) a depressed mood, or (2) loss of interest or pleasure. (five) out of the set criteria must be present n order to deem symptom of a depressive episode. Insomnia or hypersomnia: depressed mood most of the day, markedly diminished interest or pleasure in most activities, significant weight loss or gain when not dieting, or an increase or decrease in appetite. And all people who are suicidal are not depressed. In present today, depression is more prominent- due to society"s ever-changing world with multi-tasking, seeking jobs, and education. Contributed to the factor is the understanding of depression.
