Document Summary
White shirt pass ball video: 50% people miss gorilla, other background changes, focus and miss other irrelevant events. Stimulus -> sensory detection -> process information, giving it meaning -> is early selection or late selection -> filter actually moves. Sometimes its early process, or quite late in the process. Cocktail party effect- a lot of people, a lot of talking, can"t hear what they particularly saying, all being filtered out, some sort of recognition of meaning before its filtered out. When cognitive load is low, the filter tends to be quite late. Attention- only information that is intended too can only be memorized. Each person attends to a different slice, that"s why we remember things differently from each other. Poorly on focusing on 2 things at once, impaired memory. Next in line- are you listening to the person presenting now, competing in the attention, pay attention to your own presentation.
