Psci 281 w7l1: war and world politics. A conflict of arms between hostile parties or nations; open hostility declared and engaged in : a cotest, force of arms, open and declared, state and non state actors. War is nothing more than the continuation of politics by other means clausewitz. War is the point at which politics turns to murder . Types of war: strategic war, limited war, total-all-out war. Insurgency war: counter-insurgency war, guerilla war, hot war, local war, world war, political war, controlled war, accidental war, political war. Operational level makor operations, take decisions at the strategic level and gets information and analyzes ways to execute plan. Tactical level soldiers enact the operational plan through battles, engagements etc: military, police, pmc (private military contractors) /mercenaries ex. Clausewitz trinity: rational of why wars happen, nature of war composed of three elements, passion, chance, reason, people are passion because you need their support to operate.
