Focused on the internal conflicts of society rather than international affairs. Communist manifesto: collective ownership of property, wages based on skills rather than the accumulation of personal wealth, communist society which they envisioned would be born from the social class revolution, social change through economic class struggle. Inevitable resolution, and the communist society would result from it. Economics focuses on the economic class struggle: class struggle causes social change. Class struggle: history can be viewed as class struggles, working class was being oppressed by capitalists. Oppression: oppression by the bourgeoise against the proletariat. Proletariat revolt: proletariat will revolt causing a classless society. Goals: seeks to expose the contradiction of capitalism, marxism offers a way toward achieving communist society, price for labour of the worker is determined by the free market. Labour is often devalued or artificially devalued leading to low wages: communist in which the means of production are controlled by the state.
