Suicide is statistically very rare in the general population. In canada, us and other countries, fairly stable rates over the past 50 years. Males are more subject to suicide than females. The determinants of suicide are well understood: presence of psychiatric conditions in nearly all cases, depression, substance use, dementia. Neurodegenerative condition involving memory and executive impairments.
