41 views3 pages

Document Summary

Our population is really old, 13% was aged 65+ in 2011. ( stick with slide count what percentage of people in canada is 65+ if over 10% - the population can be define as old. stats) Would it matter? look at median age to measure age ( youngest to oldest and in the middle in the median) in the age structure where we have an old population, globally- 28 years, Median age -15 ( population considered young) prob have a higher life expectancy and lots of children. Japan one of the oldest countries in the world. Dependency ration take total population in the working age 15(18) to 64 as non independent ages as we expect them to be in the labor force. Interested in age (take children out of equation) Economically dependent on someone seems wrong on level of self-esteem. Just because someone is not part of labor force, does not mean they are not an important part of society.
