1 in 10 university students have contemplated suicide in the last year. Can"t assume someone who committed suicide was depressed - maybe in adolescents yes, but not in old people (high correlation when you"re young though) Suicide numbers depend on what was recorded - those that are accidents, attempts, illness prior to suicide are not always included. Fact: when families have good income security, they do well - not necessarily better, but well. Ses: 2 measures - education attainment and moola > choices, capabilities. Income security vs. job security = different: income security = function of your material wealth, jobs = function of reality + feelings of society. Income insecure - more of us report this than actually are. Us citizens say education sucks yet have so much pride for their school or their child"s school. Better for family"s well-being to know your neighbors.
